A No-Hitter!!!

Wow! Last night was Hunter's night. After 1 1/2 hours of travel ball practice, Hunter was the starting pitcher in the city league team that he and Taylor play on (the Rockies). The other team batted first and Hunter pitched 3 up 3 down. No hits. We came to bat and just about every would hit or get walked, they were all hitting great! Taylor got walked 4 times and ended up scoring 4 runs for the night. Hunter made a great hit his first time up to bat. I don't remember what base he got on, but it was good. Hunter pitched the 2nd inning and again---3 up 3 down. We came to bat again and did GREAT! Hunter hit a high one to the outfield and made an infield HOMERUN! The coach decided to let Hunter pitch the rest of the game, even though he won't be able to pitch at all in the next game. He walked 2 boys, but struck everyone else out and the runners on base never got to come in. Hunter's next at bat was a high ball to right field and bounced about 5 feet in front of the fence (I thought it was going to bounce over, but it didn't). That made his 2nd HOMERUN of the night. The score was a whole lot to zero at the beginning of the forth inning and Hunter pitched another 3 up 3 down inning. His teammate were going nuts and jumping all over him congratulating him and telling him what a good job he had done. It was a great night. Taylor was so happy for Hunter and just kept saying, "Hunter, you pitched a NO-HITTER." If it hadn't been for the 2 walks, Hunter would have pitched a perfect game. Needless to say, it was a great night of baseball for the Earnests. By the way, the final score was 20-0. Go Rockies!!!

ATB Beef O'Brady's Spring Fling Tournament

Another weekend of baseball. Even more fun than the last. I didn't get pictures from the first game that we won 15-4. After I realized that my camera was in my purse on Saturday afternoon, I got some pictures of the 2nd Saturday game that Hunter didn't play in. We fell to Myrtle Grove 1-4 (I'm sure those 2 incidences are related). Sunday morning we played at 8:00am. For that reason, we just rode over to Aunt Debbie's and stayed the night there. We played Myrtle Grove again and went down 4-9 when the time ran out. It was disappointing, but Hunter was first up to bat in the 3rd inning and made a beautiful drive over the short stops head and got on. We had a string of good hits and Hunter and several others came in. It was exciting, but too many errors in the field and mistakes in base running cost us the game. At the end of the game, Hutch called the boys together and said, "See you at 3:00 at LBW."

Anyway, the photo above was taken of Hunter's excellent hit in the game on Sunday. We were so excited. He was too:-) The photo below is Hunter running across home plate after a couple other boys got hits.

The last photo is of Hunter getting ready to steal 2nd base after his 2nd at bat (he was walked).

I created another slideshow from the tournament. You can click on this link to see it...

Baseball Anyone?

Well, what can I say. We kicked off the Little League baseball games tonight, playing against the Phillies (Brad Garner's team). Ouch! We went down swinging (at EVERYthing) 13-2. Hunter was a little discouraged and Taylor, as usual, doesn't get discouraged about anything...ahhh, to be more like Taylor:-) I think the boys had fun. Hunter and one other 5th grader on our team are the only ones that have played in this league before and you could tell that tonight. I'm sure we will improve as the season progresses, we always do. (No where to go but up from here:-))

You have to forgive me for the very short video, but I was also trying to keep the books at the same time and I had to put the camera down so that I could see where the ball went. As always, trying to do too many things at once.

Easter 2008

This Easter, Brian got all of us together outside for a family photo before we left for church. This was quite a feat when you consider that we were eating breakfast at the church that morning and I had been cooking plus helping get everyone ready. Taylor had just had a small fit concerning the fact that he was being forced to wear that pink shirt again. (He rebels every time.) Needless to say, we were in a bit of a rush, but did a pretty good job hiding that fact in the pics. Happy Easter.

(Sorry this post is a little late, I was still figuring out how to load photos from my camera.)

Andalusia Travel Ball--Mobile Tournament

March 29th - 30th, our Andalusia travel ball team, the Bulldogs, played in our first tournament. Mom drove me and the boys to Chadd's house on Friday evening just in time for supper. Meghon had cooked roast, potato casserole, and peas. It was all so delicious. Our first game was Saturday morning at 10:45am. Brian arrived just as our first batter was coming up to the plate. He had to work that morning. We won that game 8-4. Our second game was at 4:00pm. We played a very good team and lost 6-4. Saturday night we ate at a great seafood restaurant right down the road from Chadd's house. It was soooo good. Sunday morning we had a game at 10:45. We lost that game too, 1-7. It was so fun, even though it would have been more fun to win:-). We still had a blast and I'm looking forward to the tournament in Destin in 2 weeks.
