Mom's Retirement

This is a little late, but another of the biggest events that has happened in these parts is that Mom retired after working over 40 years with the United Metodist Headquarters. The office had a retirement reception for her on February 26, 2008. Most of my family was able to attend and several family and church friends. We all got their and realized that we had forgotten our cameras. Then Taylor walked in with the little digital camera that he had recently bought with his birthday money and saved the day. I'm posting some of these pictures and you'll notice a kind of haze in all the pictures. I didn't realize until later, that Taylor's hands had case icing on them and he had gotten it on the lens. That, by the way, is soooo Taylor...ha ha! So, here are some of the hazy pictures from Mom's reception at the First Methodist Church.

Internship Coming to an End

The topic of most of my conversations these days seems to be on internship. So, I thought I'd update you all at once. I am on the last leg of my 5th grade placement. I have about 4 weeks left before I'm done. Graduation is May 9th. I've decided NOT to walk at graduation. I have what I feel like is a pretty good reason, though. For the past 2 years, while I've been in school, I feel my family has been slighted by my having so many college obligations. The day of my graduation is "Feasting Around the World" for the 3rd graders. Taylor will take part in that, and Hunter has a field trip to Mobile to tour the battleship on May 8th. I am so excited to be at the end of my schooling so that I can become a more active member of what's going on with my own children and not just everyone else's. My family has been AMAZINGLY supportive of me, but I've missed all the ballgames and practices that I care to miss on account of school. Tonight (Thur.), I hear that I missed Hunter pitch the best inning he's ever pitched. I, of course, was at class in Troy. Those days are coming to a close and the sooner the better if you ask me:-). I'll be glad for summer to come, so I can just be Mom for a while.

Well, my friend Ashley got me to get a family blog. So far I have no pictures to put on it, and even if I did, I'm not sure when I'd have the time to do it. I'm suppose to be working on lesson plans right now. Well, I'm looking forward to updating the blog and getting as good at it as Ashley. (By the way Ash, I'm going to need help:0)).
